Matiang’i Rules Out Working with Ruto Ahead of 2027 Elections

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has ruled out the possibility of working with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking amid ongoing political realignments, Matiang’i, who has recently aligned himself with the opposition, dismisses any prospects of collaboration with the Head of State, terming such a move counter-productive to his political objectives.

“What would we be discussing? Work with him on what? Look at his history, the people he has wanted to work with,” Matiang’i says when asked whether he would consider working with Ruto.

He argues that the President has a pattern of falling out with former allies, suggesting that entering into any form of political partnership would be unwise.

Matiang’i’s remarks come at a time when opposition figures are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with alliances and coalitions expected to play a key role in shaping the political landscape.

His stance signals a hardening of positions within the opposition, as leaders continue to distance themselves from the ruling United Democratic Alliance.
