President Ruto Leads Tributes Following Death of Karangu Muraya’s Brother

President William Ruto is among leaders who have expressed condolences following the death of Paul Kareithi Muraya, brother to gospel artist Karangu Muraya.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 16, President Ruto describes Paul as a hardworking and honourable Kenyan, highlighting his dedication as a long-distance truck driver and his commitment to family.

“Paul will be remembered for his industrious spirit, his dedication as a professional long-distance truck driver, and his deep love for family and country,” the President states.

He extends his sympathies to the Muraya family and all who knew him. “In Paul, we have lost a hard-working and honourable Kenyan. May God grant comfort to the Muraya family and all who knew and loved him. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he adds.

Paul Kareithi Muraya passes away on April 14 while undergoing treatment at Mathari Hospital.

According to Karangu Muraya, his brother had been battling health complications following a road accident on February 17, 2025, which left him with injuries requiring prolonged medical care and contributed to his declining health.

Karangu mourns his brother in an emotional social media post, remembering him as resilient and positive even during illness.

“You are a fighter, even in a hospital bed, you were always smiling. I don’t know how I will accept the fact that you have gone forever. Bro, I will miss you. I will love you always. I will never forget you,” he writes.

Messages of condolence have continued to pour in from well-wishers and members of the public, as the family begins funeral preparations.
