Samburu secular musician Wisekid Lomelok emerged among the top winners at the Kenya Talent Awards Season 3 held in Kitengela, clinching two major awards and shining a spotlight on Maa music.
The artist, whose real name is Letowon, won Maa Secular Artist of the Year and Maa Secular Song of the Year for his track Siwuo Oropili. He was also nominated in a third category, competing alongside artists from Kenya and Tanzania.
Speaking after the awards, Wisekid Lomelok thanked his fans for their continued support, describing the win as a major milestone in his music journey.
“I was privileged to be nominated in three categories and to win two was a blessing. I thanked everyone for the love and support as we took Maa music and the Samburu name to the world,” he said.
The awards ceremony, held on April 10, 2026, brought together emerging and established talents from across the region, celebrating creativity and cultural expression in music and entertainment.
Wisekid Lomelok’s double win highlighted the growing recognition of Maa secular music, a genre that has continued to gain traction beyond Samburu County.
His victory not only marked personal success but also elevated the presence of Samburu artists on a national and regional stage.
