Bayern Munich Knock Out Real Madrid in 7-Goal Thriller to Reach Champions League Semi-Finals

Bayern Munich produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Real Madrid 4-3 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate, sealing their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after an electrifying quarter-final clash.

The match delivered end-to-end action, with Madrid taking the lead three times, only for Bayern to respond each time in front of a charged home crowd. The tie remained finely balanced deep into the second half before late goals finally settled the contest.

Luis Díaz struck in the 89th minute to break Madrid’s resistance shortly after Eduardo Camavinga was sent off for a second yellow card. Michael Olise then added a fourth to seal the victory and send Bayern through.

The game exploded into life almost immediately, with Arda Güler capitalising on an early mistake to set the tone inside the opening minute. Defensive and goalkeeping errors from both sides contributed to a chaotic first half that saw five goals scored.

Harry Kane played a key role, restoring Bayern’s aggregate lead and later reaching a historic milestone—his 50th goal of the season—becoming the first English player in 95 years to hit that mark for a club in Europe’s top leagues.

Madrid, led by Kylian Mbappé, fought back repeatedly to keep the tie alive, with Mbappé scoring to level the aggregate score at one point. However, the turning point came in the second half when Camavinga received a second yellow card for a foul on Kane and delaying the restart.

Down to ten men, Madrid struggled to hold off Bayern’s late pressure. Díaz’s decisive goal, followed by Olise’s strike, ensured the German side progressed.

After the match, Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa criticised the red card decision, calling it “unbelievable” and expressing frustration at the outcome.

For Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, the result keeps hopes of a treble alive as his side now prepares for a high-stakes semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the loss, Madrid’s exit marks a disappointing end to their European campaign, with the 15-time champions falling short in a match that will be remembered as one of the most thrilling encounters of the season.
