One Killed, Livestock Stolen in Mid-Morning Bandit Attack in Samburu

LORIAN, SAMBURU COUNTY, April 13, 2026 — Tension has been high in Lorian area, Morijo, Samburu County, following a bandit attack earlier today that left one person dead and several livestock stolen.

According to unconfirmed reports, a group of armed bandits raided the area in the mid-morning hours, opening fire and causing panic among residents before fleeing into nearby thickets with stolen livestocks.

A herder is reported to have been shot dead during the attack while trying to stop the attackers from driving away the animals.

Local sources indicate that several households were affected, with an unknown number of livestock taken during the raid. Residents say the loss has left families struggling, as livestock is the main source of income and food in the area.

The attack adds to the growing cases of banditry reported in parts of Samburu County, which continue to affect daily life and livelihoods in the region.
