Beneath the Fame –  Jerry Mutai (Content Creator/Public Speaker)

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?

My name is Kipngeno Mutai stage name remains Jerry Mutai.I am a first born in a family of 5 son to Mr and Mrs Wesley and Alice Ngeno of Sigor Village,Sururu location,Mauche Ward in Nakuru county. I am a dedicated entrepreneur despite coming from humble background.

How did you get started in your career?
Well,since the time i was in primary school,i had passion in presentations like public speaking,news anchoring and debates.This really shaped me and in different occasions i represented my schools both in primary and high school. In primary i was lucky to go upto district levels as soloist.In high school,i was privileged to be among the 3 students as the only boy representing Njoro sub county for the 3rd National student leaders conference 2011 BOMAS of Kenya and event organised by Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association KESSHA under the leadership of then chairman Mr Cleophas Tirop who was the Principal Nairobi school.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Not really much has changed but i still keep pushing with hope that one day my star will shine even beyond the borders i could imagine.The impact i have brought in some souls too is the greatest motivation for me.

What are some of the challenges you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?

As an introvert,most of the times i get hurt just when i was planning on doing something constructive and since i am used to being alone with no one to explain to,i have to stop whatever event,recording or publication until when my mind regains its stability.

Are there any particular projects or roles that have been especially meaningful to you?

Not really.

What is your biggest accomplishment that you’re most proud of?

Earning the title multi award winner.This was achieved through the following: 1.Content Creators Awards 2023-Rising star over 30 2.Founder Of The Year Awards 2024-Most Promising Founder Of The Year over 30 3.Moments Of Inspiration Kenya Awards 2024-Content Creator Of The Year

Who or what has been your biggest inspiration?

The late Minister Mutula Kilonzo,in one of his speeches to us,he said he never wanted to be second.He always aimed to the top the fact that he became the first minister to accomplish and avail new constitution to Kenya really proved his words whatever you aim and work on is possible.This man motivated me to ever work on being number one in everything i undertake.Mr

What keeps you motivated in your work?

The believe and my lovely l,beautiful wife Penalyne has in me and above all,the laughter of my 3 beautiful angels;daughters of Zion:Metrine Cherotich,Olivia Chepkirui and Olive Chepchumba they are amazing children that God blessed me with.Everyday,i wake up motivated by them that “Baba utashinda trophies tupange kwa hii nyumba hadi tukose nafasi”.

How do you handle criticism and setbacks?

Luckily,there is no day a tree with no fruits or expectations to bear fruits shall attract stone throwers.The criticism and intimidations i encounter have been my greatest sources of strength.For i know that such do not come from strangers but rather the people close to us,those whom we thouth would be proud of us and support us accordingly.This makes me to continue striving because i know that the strangers i have in my life are more than friends and family in one way or another.

How do you balance your personal life with your career?

Career wise,i like scheduling for nights since during the day am the main team player where i serve.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Listening to music,reading and even talking to the heartbroken.Healing souls is also one of my biggest pride.I know how it feels to have no one to listen to you and so i am always available for whoever in need.

Is there a particular hobby or interest that you enjoy outside of your work?

Yes,taking my kids for a weekend out.I feels so much treasured when they play and enjoy in your presence.

What advice would you give to aspiring individuals who want to pursue a career similar to yours?

It is never too late. Success knows neither earliness nor earliness but only timeliness.Start where you are with what you have and the rest will fall into place when the time is right.

What upcoming projects or ventures are you excited about?

As an award winner Founder Of The Year Awards FOYA Eastern Africa 2024 under the categoryof Most Promising Founder of The Year over 30,i have really got enough motivation that it really doesn’t matter who you are,where you come from or who you were yesterday.Being recognised and honoured by the FOYA Awards committee reminds me that am doing an exemplary work out there.For this reason,away from my career i am excited to announce that i have something big underway for youths,girl child and the less fortunate in the society as a way of giving back to the community.

Where do you see yourself in the future, both personally and professionally?

As a multi award winner with three titles so far,precisely in a span on 4 months i can proudly say that the future is still promising and i have alot to accomplish.

Favorite book/movie/song?

Personally,i have lots of favourite books and songs.I will try as much as i can to highlight some: 1 Vitamins for success a book by Mbugua Mumbi, 2 The Impossible is Possible- John Marson, 3-Think and Grow rich-Napoleon Hill.4 Gifted Hands-Ben Carson.On the other hand i have many songs: 1-Ni neno jema-William Yillima.2-Momi taabu nebo kopchi-Gilbert Sigei

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice i ever received was from my area assistant chief Mr David Korir he told me that i should keep pressing on because he liked how aggressive i am to explore and push for what is possible.Alicia,my manager too recently told me that,failure is a perception or imagination this was when i told her i am already a failed man!!!

One thing you can’t live without?

Apart from God,i cant live without phone.I better stay without food and get data bundles.

Any hidden talents or surprising facts about yourself?

Surprisingly,i still have passion and dreaming that one day i will pursue something to do with journalism and even come up with media company it was my childhood dream but change came along the way.
