University Students Hold Protests Against New Funding Model Across Kenya

Students from Moi University, Machakos University, Meru University, Pwani University, and several other institutions have staged protests against the new university funding model. The demonstrations, dubbed “Maandamano,” aim to reject the changes, which students claim will limit access to higher education and increase the financial burden on families. The universities are calling for a review of the proposed funding model to ensure equitable and affordable access to education.
