Lerte Tellah – Samburu
Maralal, Samburu County – February 27, 2025
A commuter bus traveling along the Maralal-Baragoi road was ambushed by suspected bandits at Bukoi earlier today, leaving at least two people feared dead and nine others injured.
According to unconfirmed reports, the heavily armed attackers opened fire on the vehicle, causing panic among passengers before fleeing into the nearby thickets. Security personnel have since arrived at the scene and are conducting follow-up operations to track down the assailants.
Local sources indicate that the injured victims have been rushed to Maralal County Referral Hospital for medical attention, while authorities work to verify the exact casualty numbers. The attack adds to the growing list of violent incidents that have plagued the highway, which has long been a hotspot for banditry and insecurity.
Community leaders and residents have condemned the attack, urging the government to strengthen security along the Maralal-Baragoi corridor. “We are tired of living in fear. The government must take serious action before more lives are lost,” one resident lamented.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, but reports suggest that a manhunt for the perpetrators is currently underway. More details will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
May God Intervene.
May the Families and community affected find God’s Peace.
So sad, why do this happen when we not on the on-look? Passengers should be guarded with armed policemen whenever they pass through this hotspots.Where is the old system whereby policemen we to travel with passengers? Are they themselves also scared?
