Suspect linked to weekend murder of GSU officer in Kisumu arrested

After a raid at his rural Rarieda, Siaya home, a suspect connected to the Sunday night murder of a General Service Unit (GSU) police officer has been taken into custody.
Calvince Ouma Omondi is thought to have been killed by Ronald “Ronny” Liwind in the Manyatta slum of Kisumu. Police are searching for a fugitive accomplice.
While on leave, the Turkwel, Turkana County, officer suffered a stabbing. He was from Kisumu East Sub County, specifically Kolwa.
According to police reports, the officer was attacked and killed while in the company of his friends.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, they were driving a female friend to her home in Manyatta.

The source claimed that “one of the guys who was with them asked the driver to stop to answer a call of nature.”

According to reports, the deceased officer was attacked while attempting to defend his friend who had exited the car from an attack.

After receiving one chest stab wound, he instantly passed away.

He said, “The KDF guy and the other attackers got into a fight, and then he got stabbed.”

A KDF member who was allegedly one of the GSU officer’s companions was hurt during the subsequent confrontation that resulted in the attackers’ escape.
