Someone should guide our artistes on the importance of investing

Someone should take it to task to guide our artistes on the importance of investing away from music.

God forbids but truth be told that music is like betting where you are never sure of the outcome. One day you might wake up and not be able to sing and what will become of you?

Will you go back to depression and self-pity? By now we should be past the one time wave trends and going back to the pit.

Most of our artistes if not all have entered the music industry to just be famous and end up being druggies and clout chasers. They forget that fame can come and go in a blink and by so should use the platform while it’s still on to create a direction that will be effective in the future. We have seen international acts growing and living in the music but when they leave we continue following their lifestyle because of what they do after wards.

Let’s just use Alicia Keys For example, she began her own production company and signed a deal to produce a sitcom for the CW network. This is just an example among many other notable names in the art industry. Kenyans should emulate this and move in a direction that is worth a try.

In 2022, Mejja had to cancel a show in Australia due to losing his voice, which he attributed to performing frequently without access to proper medication. Despite his efforts to get back into music and release new music, just the other day Mejja struggled with his performance at the Shoke Shoke festival. Should this signal the end of a legend or we should expect him to have a future well planned after retirements in all the years he has been entertaining us?

Let’s go back to the drawing table and conceptualize a future generator after the fame.

Invest in farming, real estate, advertisements or even hotel business just anything that will be generating income in retirements. Yes Kenyans are hospitable and will stand to make donations to entertainers but I can bet that they can’t stand for all the retirees from the limelight and especially now that the economy is going harder on everyone.
