Let us fix our future generation now

The society has neglected the future of its existence by letting the youth be their guide.

In the recent past the young were shaped and guided by the community and we lived in an era where if a child makes a mistake then any adult around that place would correct them either verbally or by action of consequences.

We then started by banning corporal punishment in institutions and at homes and this is where the first mistake towards being lost started. Children started believing that doing mistakes and walking away Scott free without being punished is their fundamental and most important human right.

You punish a kid by beating them then you stand to be answerable either to angry parents or angry neighbors. This mistake later translates to broken and spoilt kids who end up getting involved in weird and unmentionable characters like thieves among a few examples because they are used to getting away with mistakes.

Then later into the future and we start crying and complaining of how the generation is corrupted not remembering that we are the creators of our mess. We now want to start remolding clay that is already broken and dry.

We should go back to our ancestral behavioral directive measures if we need to tame the dragons of our future. If we have not been able to handle the mistakes of this generation then let’s start healing the future of the future. “Usipoziba ufa utajenga ukuta” is a common Swahili phrase that should be considered a national slogan.

If we let our kids become thieves in our homes then we risk creating robbers and white collar thieves and again if we continue the tendency of bribing our kids to either say or do something “kamummy ukiniambia what daddy said or did then ntakubuyia sweetie” then let’s forget the fight for corruption end.
